The installation „Surface Refinement“ can be seen as an architectural study: modular, geometric styrofoam and synthetic polystyrole mirror elements are arranged on the walls and ceiling of the venue to create a large-scale, adaptive spatial structure. Projections precisely map the forms and silhouettes and create an interaction between the geometric bodies, light and sound. They describe a path towards form and deliver a massive, sensual re-definition of space.
Styrofoam and polystyrole are industrial materials; completely synthetic products. Both stands for functionality, simplicity and minimalism, exactly the qualities that the installation references in contemporary architecture and interior design.
